How Can You Help?

There are several ways you can help Bridge youth transition from street life to self-sufficiency:

Donate Items
Bridge serves 5,000 homeless and high-risk youth each year. You can help by donating new items such as:

  • Clothing for teens, young adults, infants, and toddlers (Bridge especially needs professional clothing that our young people can wear on job interviews and to work.)
  • Socks and undergarments (new please)
  • School supplies (pens, pencils, and notebooks)
  • Trial-size toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo)
  • Infant care items (diapers, baby bottles, pacifiers)
  • Movie passes
  • Gift certificates

Before donating items, please send an email to ccasalini@bridgeotw.org to confirm our current needs and obtain drop-off information.

Attend the Annual Bridge Dinner & Auction
The Annual Bridge Dinner & Auction raises funds for Bridge's multiple services for runaways and homeless youth. The 2008 event will be held Saturday April 5th, 2008 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. To inquire about ticket availability, please contact KMC Productions at (781) 356-6616.

Volunteer
Bridge was founded by volunteers in 1970, and volunteers continue to be the heart of Bridge services. One-time and long-term volunteer opportunities are available.

Health Services: contact pducharme@bridgeotw.org
  • Licensed physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses are needed to volunteer one evening per month on the Mobile Medical Van.
  • Licensed dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and dental students are needed to volunteer one evening per month in the in-house Dental Clinic.

  • Tutors are needed to assist students at all grade levels.
  • Guest speakers are needed to speak to Bridge students about their particular career and field.
  • Worksite Tour Leaders are needed to lead students on a tour of their workplace.
  • Job Shadow Leaders are needed to expose students to the workplace through an interactive tour and demonstration of a day on the job.
  • Internship Providers are needed to supervise Bridge students as they complete an internship at the volunteer's place of work.

  • Mentors are needed to spend time with homeless youth who are participating in the Transitional Living Program, Single Parent House, and Cooperative Apartments.
