Ben is going to run the Falmouth Road Race to benefit Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Below, he shares a bit about why he’s chosen to run 7 miles and raise $1,000!
“As someone who grew up going to the cape every summer, I have always wanted to run in the Falmouth Road Race.
It is the crown jewel of road races, many say. When I found out that Bridge had bibs available through the Facebook page, I was immediately interested.
I wanted to run for Bridge because I believe in the agency and its mission.
Bridge is vital to the health and wellness of homeless youth in Boston. We are the only agency that does what we do. I work as an outreach worker at Bridge, where I spend my days on the streets of Boston and the medical van, spreading information about all the resources Bridge offers. I have seen firsthand how big of an impact this place can have, and I wanted to raise money to be a part of that.
I have never really run anything before.
In fact, as of right now (July 18), I can only run about 1.5 miles. Which means in the next month, I need to do a lot of training. But I welcome the challenge! I like pushing myself and my body.”
