More Than Words becomes newest partner in Bridge’s Safe Place network

Bridge is a lead agency for National Safe Place Network, having established its own network of Safe Place sites. Our Adolescent Runaway Counselor, Jade, trains and manages a network of seventeen Safe Place sites, now including More Than Words - Boston and More Than Words - Waltham. A Safe Place is a site where underage youth can go if they urgently need help and safety. Depending on each individual’s circumstances, MTW staff can connect each one with Bridge for further support.

Meet Ben, running the 2019 Falmouth Road Race for Bridge!

I wanted to run for Bridge because I believe in the agency and its mission.

Bridge is vital to the health and wellness of homeless youth in Boston. We are the only agency that does what we do. I work as an outreach worker at Bridge, where I spend my days on the streets of Boston and the medical van, spreading information about all the resources Bridge offers. I have seen firsthand how big of an impact this place can have, and I wanted to raise money to be a part of that.

Boston Cares ServiceWorks Cohort supports Bridge youth with toiletry kits

Specifically, the group of teenager volunteers wanted to help fellow peers who were going through hard times.

To maximize their impact, the teenagers chose to meet a crucial need - toiletry supply kits. The cohort of volunteers created several hundred care kits of daily essentials that youth will find invaluable while out on the streets. Each kit has a pair of socks, a toothbrush with a toothbrush cap, toothpaste, lip balm, soap, and deodorant.
