Zdeno Chara of Boston Bruins stops by with donated socks

Zdeno Chara partners with New Balance to donate socks

This holiday season, Chara, Captain of the Boston Bruins hockey team, stopped by to drop off scores of brand new socks for our youth. The socks will be very useful for our street outreach team and mobile medical van staff to be able to distribute to youth in need outdoors on the streets, on the Boston Common and in Harvard Square. As Bridge serves 2,000 youth each year, every pair is tremendously helpful.

Chara inspired by his experience at Thanksgiving with Boston homeless service providers

Zdeno Chara was so moved by his experience at Thanksgiving donating pies at various homeless service provider agencies in Boston - including at Bridge. At many organizations he heard a consistent refrain - clean, dry socks are a necessity for individuals experiencing homelessness. When you are are outdoors every day regardless of the elements, walking miles each day to get services, it is difficult to maintain good foot hygiene.

Thank you, Zdeno Chara and New Balance!
